Residential Coed Camp Ages 7-16 Amery, Wisconsin Established in 1909 Icaghowan (eye-KAH-goh-wahn) is of Lakota origin, meaning To Grow in Every Way. YMCA Camp Icaghowan nurtures character development in campers to grow in self-confidence, self-reliance and leadership skills that will last a lifetime. We have been helping boys and girls learn and discover the excitement of overnight camping for over 100 years. At YMCA Camp Icaghowan, campers try new skills, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and discover a sense of adventure in a resident camp setting on a beautiful 44-acre island in Lake Wapogasset near Amery, WI. Days are action-packed and filled with memorable camp experiences focused on traditional camp favorites including archery, swimming, climbing, canoeing, campfires and more. A highlight of each week is sleeping or playing in one of Icaghowan’s tree houses. Campers can choose from our unique specialty camps such as Horse Camp, Skateboarding, Teen Extreme, Two-Week Camp, River Canoe Trips, or Leadership Training Programs. Programs and activities at Camp Icaghowan seek to instill the four core values of the Y: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Three-day, one- or two-week sessions are perfect for the new or experienced camper.
