Waco Aviation Summer Academy

Waco Aviation Summer Academy presents an engaging week-long summer camp tailored for students in grades 5 through 8, held from June 24 to 28, 2024, between 9 AM and 2 PM daily. This camp offers an extensive study into aviation, covering the timeline from lighter-than-air aircraft through manned flight and extending to rockets and space exploration. Instruction is provided by certified FAA pilots who teach campers the basics of flying. Throughout the camp, students participate in hands-on activities, constructing and flying various models including gliders, hot air balloons, kites, paper rockets, and rubber band-powered airplanes. They also operate radio-controlled airplanes and quadcopters and explore flight simulators. An exciting opportunity to fly in a full-sized airplane is available. The camp sessions are enriched by guest speakers discussing aviation careers. Campers need to bring lunch, and the program offers limited scholarships. This camp is an excellent opportunity for young enthusiasts to deepen their understanding and passion for aviation in a practical and supportive setting.
