The Summer Enrichment Program at WPS is an extension of the WPS philosophy, principles and model that takes place during the summer months. It provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence.
The Summer Enrichment Program takes place Monday through Friday, July 6th – 31st, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Students are grouped according to skill level and learning style in small classes of no more than eight students. Additionally, each student receives daily one-on-one instruction targeting areas of greatest need within Winston’s Focus program. The program is designed to develop language, decoding/encoding, reading comprehension, writing, math, test preparation, organization and time management skills at each student’s appropriate level of engagement.
Students entering third through twelfth grades from private, public, mainstream, and special educational settings come to WPS seeking to improve their academic skills.
In addition to daily one-on-one Focus sessions, students will be enrolled in the following courses:
– Written Language
– Reading (from decoding to comprehension)
– Organization and Study Skills
Modified sessions and an independent study program available upon request.
After School Program Monday – Thursday 1:15 – 2:15
Tuition: $500 per class (meets twice per week)
Offerings can include classes such as:
– Computer Skills / Computer Coding
– Creative Arts
– Culinary Skills
– Social Pragmatics
– Sports & Fitness
With a small, closely knit staff of WPS teachers, the high degree of communication among faculty allows instructors to use the Continuous Feedback System to maximize the growth potential of each student. Close communication with parents continues throughout the summer and parents are updated weekly.
