Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Shelter Vet Camp offers a three-hour immersive experience aimed at children who aspire to become veterinarians someday. Tailored for students in grades 3 through 6, the camp focuses on introducing shelter veterinary medicine through hands-on activities such as administering vaccinations, conducting blood draws, and using a stethoscope to check animals’ heartbeats and lungs. Those in 3rd and 4th grades receive special instruction on simulated surgeries, blood model design, and recognizing common shelter animal diseases. Each participant is awarded a certificate upon completing the program. The camp runs from 9 AM to noon at three locations of the Animal Humane Society. The registration fee is $55 per child, providing a unique educational opportunity for young animal enthusiasts.
