Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Hosted by PNWBD in partnership with The Hemostasis & Thrombosis Center at OHSU, this week-long summer camp caters to children aged 8 to 17 with bleeding disorders and their siblings. The camp aims to create a safe and welcoming setting where kids can enjoy classic camp activities including swimming, archery, hiking, and campfires, while learning self-management skills for their condition. The environment nurtures a proactive and positive outlook, emphasizing what campers can do rather than their medical challenges. With cabin groups engaging in overnight campouts, woodland walks, and arts and crafts, the camp offers a comprehensive outdoor experience that also strengthens sibling bonds. Once considered too risky for children with bleeding disorders, this camp demonstrates that with the right approach and care, these kids can participate fully and joyfully in summer camp life.
