For over 35 years, the National Inventors Hall of Fame® has brought hands-on STEM experiences to K-6 students across the country through our flagship summer program, Camp Invention®. This weeklong camp sparks creativity and boosts confidence as campers tackle fun STEM challenges inspired by real-world inventors.
This summer, Camp Invention is offering this nationally acclaimed program full of open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Each year, Camp Invention delivers an all-new program to ignite the spirit of innovation. As campers collaborate to take on fun, hands-on challenges, they uncover their potential to become creators, innovators and entrepreneurs while building persistence and creative problem-solving skills. In our innovative program, Illuminate, campers explore everything from the science of light to designing athletic sports balls in four inspiring experiences.
In the Game™
Campers blend athletics, design and entrepreneurship as they tackle challenges and bring their creative ideas to life. Drawing inspiration from popular design features and specialized materials, children craft their own unique sports ball design. Elevating their game, campers jump into hands-on experiments with inclined planes and gravitational pull and construct a personalized, illuminated ball game. Diving into intellectual property protection and brand building, campers customize their light-up game with a unique logo as they explore sports and innovation.
Let’s Glow™
Children discover the science of light through illuminating inventions and build a one-of-a-kind Glow Box using circuitry and ultraviolet light. Stepping into a biophysics lab, campers dream up ideas while unraveling the mysteries of light in LEDs, fiber optics and the genetic code of glowing animals. As children learn about ultraviolet light, they reveal clues hidden in plain sight. Harnessing the power of light to make their ideas gleam, campers enhance the design of their Glow Box and find inspiration for a brighter future.
Operation: HydroDrop™
Campers embark on an epic global operation to tackle water challenges with the help of a robotic lab-on-wheels. As they explore and address real water-related issues across our planet, they customize their mobile robot illuminated by the latest marine science technology. Next, children team up to draw inspiration from patented water-based inventions, from flood control technology to water-cleaning devices. As campers craft their own solutions, they learn how they can make a significant impact on our planet.
Prototyping Studio™
Children star as contestants on Prototyping Studio — a game show hosted by NIHFty Bot™ — and go on an inventive journey to unveil the ultimate place for creation. Campers develop fresh ideas and learn how to mold and shape them into awesome inventions with everyday items from their DIY toolbox, all while exploring the inspiring invention spaces of National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees. Through a series of swift prototyping challenges, campers hone their invention concepts and safeguard their intellectual property, making each child a winner in their own creative realm.

My daughter has been going for the last 3 years (this year included) and she absolutely loves it. She walked out of there everyday so proud of herself and what she was able to make work. So happy to tell me and explain to me how the switch board thing (not sure what it’s called) works, and how she can use it from her room with our neighbor when he’s in his room. How they can communicate with one another. Again, so very proud of herself while telling me! As a single parent I always look for fun different things my daughter can do during the summer and this one is definitely one of our favorites!!! Thank you!
My son has ADHD and STEM activities is where he thrives. This program gave him more confidence to be himself and do what he loves with a future in STEM.
It has kindled his interest and love towards STEM and gives him more confidence to come up with this creativity and logical thinking.
This camp was very engaging and our children were very excited to have dashboards that they can use to talk to each other from their rooms. My older daughter said this about our younger daughter, ” this is one of the times. I’m really grateful that I have a sister!” Ha!
Both my daughter who is 6 and my son who is 8 absolutely love this program! It’s been the best summer camp for both of them. They are always looking forward to it and all smiles at pick up. All the staff and teachers are super supportive and friendly which really means a lot to us!
My son always now wants to make stuff with items that we were going to throw away. Gluing or nailing.

I love the camp! It’s allows my child to explore other areas of their mind that they wouldn’t be exposed to anywhere else!
My son has always liked doing science kits we get at the store but this program has opened his eyes the other things he can do and wants more.

It sparks my kids in hands on activities and problem solving
This year was my daughter’s first Camp Invention experience. I have never seen her so engaged and excited to talk about her daily experiences or to jump out of bed looking forward to each day. Her love of STEM activities has grown exponentially and she can’t wait for next year!

This camp was wonderful! My child came home so excited everyday with stories of the neat things they did and all that they learned. She was so proud to show me the great projects they made and how they worked. She is already asking about coming next year! The staff did an amazing job at this camp! Thankful that we learned about this opportunity and that my daughter could take part.

I loved that it was an indoor camp option, it was creative and engaging. He loved going and at the end of the week came home with some inventions and an invention book, and he loved teaching mom and dad something we didn’t know 🙂

Camp Invention keeps him busy during the summer and learning rather than being at home on his device. He meets new people, his self esteem has improved and he connected with some of the teachers at the camp. This was his second summer attending the program and he loves it. Once he reaches the appropriate age he is interested in being in the leaders in training program.
My daughter loved the camp. We will be attending every year. She brought home many projects and was really excited to show them off to family and friends.

My Boys really enjoyed camp. Came home telling me how cool the projects they were working on. They made new friends and learn new thinking skills. I would recommend this for any child.
My daughter has made a new friend this year. My son has been making things at home with reusable items since and expanded his creativity this summer.
