Offered by the Combat Air Museum at Topeka Regional Airport, the Young Aviators Education Classes target children aged 9 to 13 and provide a rich learning environment about aviation. This five-day course, available during school breaks, runs from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. The curriculum covers various topics such as the history of flight, the mechanics of aircraft, basics of flying theory, and interpreting aviation maps and charts. Students enjoy hands-on lessons, including time in a flight simulator and tours of museum exhibits. The program also features visits to significant aviation and emergency service sites around Forbes Field, like the Kansas Army National Guard and the Kansas Air National Guard facilities, along with fire and rescue demos. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants to maintain an intimate educational setting. The fee is $75 for the entire week, with discounts available to museum members. This camp uniquely blends education with practical experiences to ignite a passion for aviation among youth.
