The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine hosts the Veterinary Summer Experience Program (VSEP) aimed at high school juniors and seniors interested in the veterinary field. Established in 1993, this no-cost program runs from June 9 to July 11, , combining four weeks of practical shadowing in local veterinary practices with an intensive week of educational sessions on the University campus. Eligibility requires Tennessee residency, enrollment in a Tennessee high school or homeschool, a minimum age of 16 by June 1, , and a 3.0 or higher GPA. Participants must commit to a full 40-hour week during the program and find a veterinary practice site for shadowing that is approved by the College. The application period closed in early with supplemental materials due soon after. Applicants will be notified by late March . This program offers a valuable, immersive experience for future veterinarians to explore the profession in depth.
