Since 2006, the Veterinary Internship Summer Programs have provided veterinary students with invaluable hands-on experience by working directly with experienced food animal veterinarians. Students have the chance to engage with various sectors such as swine, beef, dairy, and poultry industries, focusing on practical applications of veterinary medicine. Specialized tracks include internships focused on bovine, poultry, rural, and swine veterinary medicine, where students participate in management, research, diagnostics, and field trials under the mentorship of industry professionals. Additionally, the Summer Scholar Research Program offers students an introduction to veterinary research, allowing exploration of clinical and health-related studies. The programs are designed to complement veterinary education by offering real-world exposure across diverse food animal production settings.
