Vanderbilt University’s Summer Science Academy (VSSA) is an umbrella program designed for undergraduate students immersed in summer biomedical research at the university’s School of Medicine. It involves about 120 students participating across 13 research tracks that include seminars, social, and enrichment activities to broaden their educational experience. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates who have not graduated before the program begins. The programs primarily run from the end of May to early August. VSSA is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive research environment, helping students to create meaningful connections and encouraging diverse viewpoints as they pursue careers in biomedical sciences.
