Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Mini Medical Camp at the University of Georgia provides an interactive and inspiring learning experience for middle and high school students fascinated by the medical field. Held over one week during summer, the camp accommodates small groups, ensuring personalized attention. It is orchestrated through Georgia Center’s Summer Academy Camps in collaboration with the University of Georgia Medical Partnership, where current medical students serve as instructors. Campers delve into comprehensive medical topics, receiving their own stethoscopes and engaging in hands-on lessons that mirror medical school curriculum. The camp offers flexible learning choices including specialties like ultrasound and wilderness first aid, enhancing the students’ exposure. Practical experiences include skin suturing practice, patient simulation, blood flow role-play, and bone construction exercises, all designed to simplify complex medical ideas. The program’s supportive and welcoming environment encourages curious questions and nurtures a passion for healthcare, giving campers insight into medical school pathways and inspiring future career aspirations in medicine.
