UAB Biomedical Summer Research Programs

UAB hosts several focused summer research programs tailored for undergraduate students aiming to pursue careers in health and biomedical research. These programs, ranging from 6 to 12 weeks, provide robust training through hands-on lab and clinical research opportunities under expert faculty mentorship. Participants gain exposure to fields such as cystic fibrosis, neuroscience, cancer research, aging, and genomic medicine, integrated with career development workshops and academic support. Many of the programs include stipends, clinical shadowing options, and emphasize diversity and inclusion. These initiatives are offered in-person, and some have virtual components as well, helping students build research expertise and prepare for graduate or medical school.
