Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Teachwell Summer Sessions are tailored programs aimed at young adults aged 16 to 21 with disabilities residing in South Dakota, focusing on supporting their transition from high school to post-secondary education and independent living. The sessions take place over three weeks in June 2025 with a series of educational and experiential activities. Week one focuses on soft skills and safety training conducted at Avera McKennan Hospital, where students learn workplace professionalism and community navigation. Week two enables students to practice skills by using public transportation and touring local businesses, providing real-life work environment exposure. The final week at Southeast Technical College emphasizes college readiness, skill development for academic success, and campus life orientation. The morning sessions run from 9 am to noon and are offered at no cost to eligible participants. Interested individuals must apply by May 21, 2025, and families or educators may also assist with applications. Participation is flexible, allowing students to attend any combination of weekly offerings tailored to their development goals.
