The Summer Springboard Emergency Medicine program at UC San Diego immerses students in essential emergency medical training and career exploration. Over two weeks, students gain hands-on experience in vital clinical procedures such as wound care, bleeding control, splinting, and suturing in a supervised simulation lab environment. They engage in team-based diagnostic and treatment exercises and participate in a mass-disaster simulation to develop practical skills under pressure. The program also includes interactions with healthcare experts and tours of medical facilities, broadening understanding of various healthcare careers like physical therapy, physician assistant roles, and phlebotomy. This camp not only provides practical medical training but also helps students align their interests and strengths with potential future pathways.
