The Summer Springboard Emergency Medicine program at Georgia Tech provides teens with an intensive introduction to key emergency medical skills and knowledge. Participants receive practical training in suturing, wound care, splinting, CPR, and other life-saving techniques in a cutting-edge simulation lab. Over the course of two weeks, students engage in team-based learning by diagnosing simulated patients and formulating treatment plans. The program culminates in an immersive mass casualty incident simulation, challenging students to apply their skills in a high-pressure environment. Alongside hands-on training, students explore various medical professions and the education required to pursue them, fostering informed career exploration. This comprehensive program combines real-world medical experience with collaborative learning, preparing students for future studies and careers in healthcare.
