Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Designed for rising second-year medical students, this summer program provides practical learning experiences across several key health disciplines. Participants can engage in the SOARinG Program, working on dedicated research projects mentored by faculty at Prisma Health’s Health Science Center. The summer spans six to eight weeks, marking the transition between the first and second year of medical training. Culinary Medicine training is also offered, where students gain hands-on nutrition knowledge in a professional kitchen setting, empowering them to better support patients with chronic illnesses. Another component, the SUDR Summer Experience, allows students to learn about substance use disorders through interactions with recovering individuals and learning from specialists. Certificates are awarded to those who complete the program, with chances to gain experience as recovery coaches. These opportunities enhance medical education outside traditional credit courses, promoting deeper understanding and patient care skills.
