Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
SHPEP offers a complimentary summer enrichment experience designed for college students pursuing health profession careers, especially those from groups underrepresented in these fields. This program, formerly known as SMDEP, broadened in scope in 2016 to encompass a greater variety of health disciplines. It aims to enhance participants’ academic abilities and professional readiness, helping them successfully apply and enroll in health profession programs. The program prioritizes individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds or those facing economic or educational hardships. Eligible students include freshmen and sophomores who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have DACA status, with a GPA of at least 2.5. Applicants can find detailed application instructions and deadlines on the official SHPEP website.
