Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Stead Scholars Program offers an intensive, 8-week summer experience in June and July focusing on public health career exploration for undergraduates attending four-year Arkansas colleges. Coordinated by the Arkansas Department of Health and the College of Public Health at UAMS, students are paired with mentors to engage in public health research projects but without clinical duties. The curriculum includes weekly seminars, fostering a deep understanding of public health science, practical applications, and policy issues. Scholars earn a $4,000 stipend and present their research findings at the program’s conclusion. Selection is competitive and overseen by a panel of health and academic leaders. Eligible applicants must be Arkansas residents enrolled in accredited four-year universities, submitting all materials by February 28, 2025.
