Southern New Hampshire Area Health Education Center Science of Health and Nursing Camp

The weeklong Science of Health and Nursing Camp by the Southern New Hampshire Area Health Education Center introduces middle and high school students to the field of healthcare through interactive, practical activities on the UNH campus. Students gain valuable skills such as CPR, first aid, and emergency response techniques like using EpiPens and Naloxone. They also participate in simulated patient care exercises in a health sciences setting. Beyond clinical training, the camp familiarizes students with college life by showing them the campus facilities and dining areas to motivate them towards higher education. Targeting students in grades 8 to 11 from diverse school backgrounds, the program nurtures their curiosity about healthcare careers and prepares them to meet workforce demands. This partnership reflects a commitment to fostering healthcare career interest and addresses the shortage of healthcare professionals especially in underserved communities.
