Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Washington State University’s RISE Summer Academy is a specialized six-week summer program providing American Indian and Alaskan Native students with intensive preparatory training for medical school. Blending virtual and in-person experiences in Spokane, this program emphasizes Indigenous cultural learning alongside practical medical school application skills. Students engage directly with admissions professionals and faculty mentors who assist with personal statement reviews and conduct mock interviews. Attendance bears no cost, with travel, accommodation, and meals provided during the in-person sessions to ensure ease of participation. Through this program, scholars gain invaluable insights into medical school admissions, gain critical feedback, and foster connections that help pave the way for their future medical careers, all within a culturally affirming context.
