Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Project H.E.A.R.T. is a hands-on residential summer camp hosted by NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University, aimed at high school juniors and seniors interested in medical and health care careers. Taking place in June 2025 at two campus locations—Jonesboro and Arkadelphia—the program offers comprehensive exposure to medical education and healthcare professions. Participants live in dorms, with meals provided, immersing themselves in a college environment. Under the guidance of NYIT medical student mentors, campers learn about the rigors of medical school and gain firsthand experience with activities like bovine heart dissection and interactive workshops led by local healthcare providers. The camp is intended for students living in Arkansas or Delta states, helping them explore future academic and career paths in health care. Application requires submission of an online form along with a personal statement by April 10, 2025. This initiative also emphasizes community health education and is offered at no cost to students, funded by a generous anonymous donor.
