Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The UAMS Pre-Medical Summer Scholars (PMSS) program invites junior and senior undergraduate students preparing for medical school to participate in a comprehensive, nonresidential summer experience designed to boost their MCAT readiness and overall medical knowledge. Targeting those from disadvantaged educational or financial situations, PMSS provides an intense review of fundamental sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, complemented by workshops in critical thinking and problem-solving. Students engage in small group learning led by medical students and attend lectures enhancing academic and professional skills like study habits, financial planning, and interviewing. The program further offers virtual clinical observations where participants can witness firsthand the daily work of healthcare providers, enriching their understanding and helping build professional relationships with mentors. Eligible students must have a solid academic record and relevant science coursework. The session runs online starting mid-April through May and switches to in-person activities from early June to late July 2025, with application submissions required by May 22, 2025.
