Designed to empower disadvantaged high school students in Salt Lake County, Utah, the Pre-Health Summer Program by Crossroads Utah AHEC is a comprehensive six-week program hosted at Salt Lake Community College’s Jordan Campus. It focuses on building strong fundamentals in academic subjects like math, science, and English, while introducing students to diverse healthcare fields through interactive experiences and informative career tours. Each day blends rigorous college preparatory classes with engaging healthcare presentations, group projects, and practical exposure to medical equipment and simulators. Participants benefit from weekly visits to healthcare facilities and receive mentorship from health professionals. The program offers paid employment at $15 per hour, free lunch, parking and bus passes, and equips students with the skills and confidence needed for college readiness and healthcare career success. Priority enrollment is given to rising juniors and seniors who are first-generation college hopefuls or students receiving assistance like free or reduced lunch, promoting access and opportunity within the healthcare sector.
