Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Overlook Summer Internship Program (OSIP) is geared towards college students preparing to enter medical school. This internship offers an insightful glimpse into the medical profession by placing students alongside healthcare workers in different departments, including surgeries, emergency care, and clinical offices. Each Monday through Thursday begins with a professional-led breakfast discussion about the realities and challenges of various medical specialties, followed by hands-on mentorships in settings chosen by their mentors. Fridays are dedicated to half-day mentorships and group discussions over lunch to share experiences. This program is aimed at helping participants clarify their commitment to medicine and gather experiences valuable for future academic pursuits. The program isn’t officially accredited but may qualify for academic credit through the students’ home institutions. Scheduled in June, it demands daily morning attendance from Monday to Friday, starting with an orientation day, along with strict health and background requirements. Participants receive continuous feedback and a formal recommendation letter to support their career endeavors.
