Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
NW Wings Aviation’s first summer camp took place over two sessions in June and July at the Hillsboro Airport with campers aged between 9 and 13 years old. This program aims to expand young participants’ knowledge and interest in aviation and STEM fields, covering subjects like how planes stay airborne and exploring the engineering feats of iconic aircraft. Throughout the week, campers enjoy interactive learning and educational field trips to aviation museums, fire stations, and college aviation departments. They engage in hands-on experiences with aircraft and flight simulators, gaining insight into pilot training and aircraft maintenance careers. The camp focuses on making aviation an inviting and inspiring pursuit for children, encouraging critical thinking and imaginative skills in a supportive environment. NW Wings Aviation plans to continue offering this camp during winter breaks and future summers to establish ongoing community engagement in aviation education.
