Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Summer Veterinary Camp at Mississippi State University is an engaging program hosted by the College of Veterinary Medicine designed for teens aged 13 to 17 who dream of entering veterinary and animal-related careers. Since its inception in 2011, the camp has expanded to serve more students and broaden its curriculum, emphasizing hands-on learning experiences led by expert faculty members and veterinary students acting as mentors. The program immerses campers in various facets of veterinary science such as anatomy, microbiology, radiology, and physical exams, allowing them to explore diverse career options in animal health, public health, research, and more. Applications open in late January and close in mid-March, with acceptance notifications sent out in April. Campers benefit from practical, sensory-rich labs and meaningful interactions with instructors, fostering both knowledge and enthusiasm for veterinary careers. This camp is also celebrated for its excellent satisfaction scores and provides a vibrant, enjoyable setting to connect with fellow animal enthusiasts.
