Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The miRcore Research Camps provide a robust educational experience for high school students interested in computational biology and genomics, combining both virtual and in-person learning environments to maximize accessibility and engagement. Small group settings ensure individualized attention supported by knowledgeable teaching assistants. Throughout the camp, students participate in laboratory experiments, data analysis, and project development, particularly focusing on cutting-edge research areas like microRNA sequencing and genome analysis. This immersive program extends beyond the summer sessions by offering the miRcore Volunteer Program, which supports continuous skill development in research, programming, and leadership. Camps are held in renowned facilities including the University of Michigan and Scripps Research Institute, and cater to students typically from the freshman year of high school up to college attendees, especially in the genome sequencing modules. The curriculum covers computational biology, programming in R, biotechnology sequencing, and personalized genome analysis, providing a solid foundation for aspiring scientists and medical researchers.
