Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation’s Clinical Research Internship provides a rich 12-week summer experience for pre-med undergraduates or aspiring medical professionals. The internship, held at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, immerses students in cardiovascular research and clinical medicine through mentorship by physicians who are both clinicians and researchers. Interns engage in research projects, shadow healthcare professionals during various cardiovascular procedures, and participate in educational field trips including visits to medical device companies and specialized heart registries. The program includes opportunities to attend interactive presentations and culminates in a poster session where interns present their findings. Financial support is offered via a weekly stipend to help cover living expenses, though housing is not included. Eligibility requires students to be full-time available and academically strong, with the program running full-time from late May to mid-August. The internship encourages diversity and inclusivity and aims to prepare the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular health research.
