The Mini-Medical School program, hosted by the University of Virginia School of Medicine, provides an immersive and condensed experience into medical education for a broad audience including local high school students and community members. Spanning seven weeks, the program is facilitated by UVA faculty and medical students and covers a range of medical topics. Participants gain firsthand insight into medical training activities such as match day events and research laboratories, alongside patient interviews, enriching their awareness of how healthcare professionals are trained. The program also includes entertainment segments by medical students, adding to its dynamic nature. Free of charge, Mini-Medical School helps participants boost their health literacy, build connections with medical professionals, and earn a certificate marking their attendance.
