Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The MCHC/RISE-UP summer program is an extensive public health leadership opportunity targeted at undergraduates and recent graduates keen on maternal and child health. Sponsored by the CDC and hosted by Kennedy Krieger Institute with partners such as Johns Hopkins University and UC Davis, the program emphasizes social justice, health disparities, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Scholars engage in a three-part leadership experience encompassing clinical practice, research, and advocacy work. The program commences with a five-day orientation in Baltimore, supported by regular seminars to foster skills and collaborative projects. Mentors guide participants in their research and professional development. Attendees showcase their projects at various national conferences during and after the program. The program runs for approximately two months, with some site variants offering a 6-week session, notably at UC Davis. While stipends are consistent, the housing option might vary based on the host institution.
