LSUHSC Medical Student Summer Research Internship Program

This summer internship program at LSUHSC is an 8-week opportunity designed for medical students interested in advancing their skills in both clinical and basic science research. Established in 2003, the program places students under the guidance of expert mentors at various medical and research institutions in New Orleans and across Louisiana. Interns not only acquire hands-on research experience but also participate in seminars focusing on ethical research practices and professional growth. Their research culminates in presentations at a dedicated symposium each fall. Many also pursue further research through an Honors track, enhancing their academic credentials. Funding comes from prominent medical research organizations including the LSU School of Medicine and several NIH branches.
