Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The West Virginia University School of Medicine hosts the INTRO Summer Research Program, designed to immerse first-year medical and pharmacy students from WVU, Marshall University, and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in an intensive eight-week research opportunity. Participants work closely with faculty mentors on meaningful research projects, developing skills critical for clinical and translational research such as research question formulation, hypothesis development, and data interpretation. This stipend-supported program emphasizes mentoring, research ethics compliance, and professional development through weekly sessions. Students present their research outcomes in a poster session and at the Van Liere Research Conference in spring. The program encourages future physician-investigator careers and promotes scientific rigor in clinical practice. Applicants must submit their plans and secure mentorship by March 27, 2025, with selections announced in early April. The program runs from June 2 through July 25, 2025.
