Future Health Leaders is a precollege summer program that offers an enriching week-long experience for high school students interested in healthcare and healing arts. Set on the Lewis & Clark College campus in Portland, Oregon, this program immerses students in the academic and practical aspects of health professions. Through hands-on activities like mini-med school, CPR certification, and public health communication projects, participants gain a well-rounded introduction to the healthcare field. Students will spend time in advanced research labs at both Lewis & Clark and Oregon Health & Science University, learning about innovative medical science firsthand. The program also focuses on narrative medicine and stress reduction techniques, expanding students’ understanding of patient care. The collaborative environment fosters leadership and networking, helping students develop professional skills and connections that will benefit their future educational and career paths. This program combines the liberal arts and sciences to provide a holistic approach to health education in an inspiring campus setting.
