Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Emergency Vet Camp is tailored for children in grades 4 through 7 who have an interest in veterinary science. The camp offers an interactive program where campers learn about animal healthcare through various scientific experiments and activities. Participants perform basic physical exams with authentic medical tools and study disease prevention using microscopes. They gain suturing skills beginning with mock setups and advancing to realistic samples, create models of heart function, and conduct dissections of animal specimens like sheep hearts and owl pellets. Additional hands-on projects such as DNA extraction and pet CPR training enhance their understanding of veterinary practices. Campers also get to prepare pet treats and keep their own first aid kit. Occasionally, practicing veterinarians are invited to visit and enrich the campers’ learning experience. This camp is an ideal opportunity for young animal lovers to explore veterinary techniques in a supportive educational setting.
