Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University: Take Flight Summer Camp

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s “Take Flight” summer camp is a comprehensive three-day aviation experience for youths aged 9 to 17, conducted with a parent or guardian who must participate fully. The camp focuses on introductory flight training combining real flight time aboard a Cessna 172 aircraft with advanced Garmin G1000 avionics and simulated flight practice using synthetic reality technologies. Participants will fly with dedicated instructors on a local flight, cross-country journey, and nighttime flight over Phoenix, Arizona. The curriculum includes educational sessions on various aviation topics such as weather, safety, and air traffic control. With hands-on training both in flight and in simulation, the camp facilitates practical learning and prepares students for an aviation career. It is hosted at Embry-Riddle’s Prescott campus and has conditions on participant citizenship and combined participant weight limits for safety.
