Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Duke’s STAR Program provides a comprehensive five-week summer research training for a diverse group of participants including high school and college students, medical students, and educators. Located at the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, NC, participants engage in team-based, mentored research projects focused on medication use and effects, developing papers for potential publication. The program blends hands-on data analysis, clinical shadowing experiences, lectures on relevant medical topics, and ethical training in research conduct. To accommodate various educational needs, the program also offers a special pilot for medical students and partners with Montana State University to extend opportunities to underserved populations. Participants receive stipends, easing financial barriers, and gain essential experience that supports future careers in science and medicine, including training in scientific writing and data analysis.
