Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
CU Boulder’s Aerospace Summer Academy is a week-long intensive camp aimed at high school students eager to delve into aerospace engineering. Scheduled for three different weeks in June and July, the academy takes place in a state-of-the-art education building on campus. Students will have the chance to connect with LASP scientists, study astrobiology, and collaborate on a Mars mission project. One of the highlights is visiting the Mission Operations Center used by LASP students to manage NASA satellite missions with values exceeding $1.5 billion. The academy offers practical experiences including projects involving gliders, jet engines, and aircraft wing composites, plus discussions on alternative uses such as parachutes and wind energy. Operating from 9:30 AM to 3 PM, the program costs $650 per participant. Attendees should bring personal items like a pack for their belongings, water, snacks, and a packed lunch, along with appropriate clothing and closed shoes. The camp follows strict health protocols, encouraging mask use and illness prevention as per CDC and university standards, ensuring a safe and educational experience for all enrolled. This program is designed to cultivate technical knowledge and passion for aerospace careers among high school students.
