The Camp Med Summer Program offers a comprehensive introduction to health careers for students entering grades 8 through 12. This free program, facilitated by Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s Northwest Area Health Education Center (NWAHEC), combines interactive learning with real-world insights into the healthcare industry. Over 20 hours of programming engage students in understanding healthcare challenges, social factors influencing health, and the local healthcare environment. Participants reflect on different aspects of healthcare systems, aiming to discover both opportunities and obstacles within the field. The program strives to inspire and prepare young individuals for future roles in healthcare by providing meaningful experiences that encourage thoughtful decision-making about their professional paths.
