Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Camp ChiMer offers an overnight camp experience tailored for children ages 9 to 18 with end stage renal disease, including those on peritoneal or hemodialysis and post-renal transplant patients. Founded in 1986 with the collaboration of medical professionals and volunteers, this camp is designed to deliver not only fun and recreational activities, such as swimming in a filtered pool, but also a supportive environment where campers can bond over shared medical challenges. Situated at the scenic Three Trails Camp & Retreat Center in Kansas City, Missouri, the camp is set on a 100-acre private facility. Medical supervision is provided by a team of healthcare experts including physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and social workers. Supported by the National Kidney Foundation and Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics, Camp ChiMer creates a unique opportunity for children to experience the outdoors safely, form long-lasting friendships, and feel understood and supported.
