The Careers in Clinical Research Program, known as C-CLEAR, is a summer program hosted at The University of Kansas Cancer Center that spans eight weeks, aimed at introducing undergraduate students interested in medical fields to clinical research. Under the guidance of Joseph Hines, II, MPH, students engage in practical learning covering the processes of clinical studies and data management. The program grants an important Good Clinical Practice certification that certifies participants’ understanding of the ethical standards and operational procedures in clinical research. Students collaborate with experts in the Clinical Trials Office, observing the journey of new therapies from the research stage to clinical application. Additionally, C-CLEAR helps students explore diverse roles within clinical research and provides career development by exposing participants to potential jobs beyond laboratory or traditional medical settings.
