Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
The Boiler Vet Camps at Purdue University provide a specialized two-week residential experience for youth passionate about veterinary medicine. Splitting participants into Junior and Senior groups, the program offers extensive practical training and educational activities on campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. Junior campers, mainly rising 8th and 9th graders, engage in diverse lessons covering different animal species, including demonstrations with equine medical technology and visits to local zoos and farms. Senior campers, composed of rising high school sophomores through seniors, dive into canine health topics, performing physical exams, participating in surgeries, and caring for shelter dogs throughout the week. The camps are competitive, drawing applications nationwide and relying on veterinary student volunteers as counselors. In 2024, Boiler Vet Camps became the first camp at Purdue to earn accreditation from the American Camp Association, ensuring a safe and enriching environment for all campers.
