Linking Camps and Campers Since 1995
Delaware State University’s B2-CARS Summer Program integrates engaging STEM activities with an applied research project in wastewater remediation, specially tailored for middle school students from underrepresented minorities. The program emphasizes hands-on learning in biology, chemistry, and bioinformatics, aiming to boost participants’ knowledge and enthusiasm in STEM. It also prepares STEM teachers and undergraduate students to become effective educators and role models, thereby extending the program’s influence to classrooms statewide. Aligned with Next Generational Science Standards, B2-CARS promotes a culturally responsive learning approach to increase college enrollment in STEM disciplines among minority students. There is a strong focus on developing critical thinking, resilience, and a passion for scientific discovery within a diverse and inclusive camp community.
