York College’s JFK Redevelopment Aviation and Aeronautics Academy (JFKR AAA) offers a comprehensive STEM education program focusing on aviation and aeronautics to local youths. The academy reaches nearly 700 students during the school year, providing exposure to aviation-related subjects, leadership skills, and potential career paths in the aviation industry. Strategically positioned near two major airports, the program leverages this location to deepen community engagement in STEM fields. The academy runs free sessions across the school year, including four Saturdays for fall and spring, and intensive summer courses lasting four to six weeks, targeting middle and high school students. With an ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, the academy works to increase the number of underrepresented groups in aviation professions. The curriculum incorporates modern technology topics such as coding and cybersecurity, supported by partnerships with industry leaders.
