This summer program offered by the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine is targeted at high school juniors and seniors who aspire to study veterinary medicine. Lasting four days, the Advanced Veterinary Academy provides a glimpse into veterinary student life with comprehensive educational sessions including hands-on labs, clinical rotations, and lectures. Students explore biomedical sciences, pathology, forensic applications, public health, and small and large animal medicine, among other topics. They also receive training on interview skills and standardized test preparation. Applicants need to meet specific criteria including job shadowing a veterinarian, essay submission, and providing letters of recommendation. Through this program, participants experience a realistic and engaging introduction to veterinary careers and academic life. The program cost is $400.
