Chateaugay is a unique and enchanting place where children thrive in a nurturing environment. Our programs provide fun and laughter as the children develop responsibility, independence, social skills, and a respect for the outdoors. During their time at camp, our campers are given the opportunity to improve their athletic, waterfront, and wilderness skills. Their day is split into both assigned and choice activities allowing the campers the ability to explore everything and focus on those activities in which they are most interested.
Originally built as a summer estate in 1917, it became the Adirondack Music Camp in the late 1920’s. In 1946 Camp Chateaugay was established as a co-ed residence camp. Housing 300 campers ranging 6-17 years of age, our program philosophy is directed toward the individual child. Campers choose a portion of their activities, yet are given strong direction by our qualified staff to participate in all of our programs. Camp Chateaugay strives to offer the highest quality of instruction, allowing children to discover their capabilities and develop a healthy self-esteem. They develop warm and lasting friendships, as attested to by the return of our campers . . . season to season, generation after generation.
