Conjugate verbs on ancient Incan trails. Master your pronunciation while living with locals. Practice grammar near the world’s highest volcano. This is Spanish immersion, Ecuadorian style.
Se habla adventure? Spanish class meets at 15,000 feet. Grab your backpack and cross the rugged Andes through famous Incan ruins to get there. Don’t be late. Then, drop down into cobble-stoned colonial cities and charming villages to talk the talk. With everyone: hat makers, weavers, even llamas. No one speaks English. Which is exactly the point. Back up, into a cloud forest, to help local volunteers and conservationists plant gardens and maintain trails – in Spanish, of course. Doing crafts, dancing salsa, eating and laughing, constantly surrounded by native speakers. As language instruction goes, this is as immersive as it gets.
One day, years from now, you will reflect on where and how you learned to really speak Spanish. And at once, these incredible experiences will come flooding back. For now, leave here with three college language credits, over forty service hours and memories, forever etched.
