Extreme Action Adventure Camp
As diabolical master-minds try to take over the world, there has never been a greater need for secret agents. Because this specialty is classified under "national security," only some training can be revealed here. First, secret agents become experts in the art of paintball. Agents are authorized to fire upon suspects, suspicious characters and counselors. Top secret personnel will also drive ATVs and go-karts (using evasive maneuvers), learn martial arts, scale walls, launch stink bombs and defy gravity on our reconnaissance ropes course (Did we mention that agents will play paintball, paintball, and more paintball?).

Secret Agent Camp
Campers will learn basic stunts - rolls, low falls, headers and jumps. They'll develop overall body coordination and learn tricks for landing on stunt pads and leaping off mini-trampolines. Using professional techniques, campers will stage a rehearsed fight - complete with furniture and other assorted break-away objects. Armed with new skills, these thrill seekers will rehearse and perform a jaw-dropping stage show for the entire camp (recorded for campers to take home).

Water Sports Extravaganza Camp
Do you love water-skiing, jet skiing, wake and knee boarding? At Water Sports Extravaganza , you'll spend three hours each day on the lake getting semi-private lessons. Expert instructors will teach you to cut and jump the wake, ride switch-stance, end in a fakie position, perform stale fish grabs and much more. Programs take place on Big Bear Lake, the perfect water sports environment where the water is a comfortable 70-72 degrees. If you love the water, come get wet!

Hollywood Stunt Camp
Campers will learn basic stunts - rolls, low falls, headers and jumps. They'll develop overall body coordination and learn tricks for landing on stunt pads and leaping off mini-trampolines. Using professional techniques, campers will stage a rehearsed fight - complete with furniture and other assorted break-away objects. Armed with new skills, these thrill seekers will rehearse and perform a jaw-dropping stage show for the entire camp (recorded for campers to take home).

Horseback Riding Academy
For campers with limited or no experience with horses, this program is the perfect intro to the Wild, Wild West . Junior cowpokes will learn how to feed, groom, handle, wash, saddle and care for horses. They will also be taught how to slow and stop their horse, steer forward and backward, and guide their steed over objects on a trail. Once they're comfortable, Pali cowboys and cowgirls will take on adventurous trail rides through the San Bernardino Forest, renowned for its wildlife and beauty.

Broadcast Journalism
Reporters will learn how to write stories, read on camera, do stand-up reports on location, work from an anchor desk and use cue cards. On the technical end, campers are taught camera operation and lighting. Every week, kids will produce newscasts for the entire camp and get the thrill of watching themselves on screen; they will also take home a DVD of their broadcasts. In addition to the glitz and glamour of being on TV, campers will learn about journalism ethics, interviewing techniques and how to use hidden cameras and microphones (for investigative stories). These future TV journalists are also taught editing techniques, including blue screen. They will also learn in-studio camera moves and how to create cool graphics as seen on network news.

Film Institute
In this filmmaking specialty, campers will work with professionals on storyboarding, shot list creation, shooting and editing. Newbie writer/directors will develop movie ideas, shape them into screenplays, cast their films from the Acting Academy and yell "action" to their fellow campers. Hollywood magic will come to life when kids' movies premiere at the Pali Film Festival! As a bonus, campers will take home a DVD of their movie to show to family, friends and producers!

Fashion Design Institute
The Fashion Design Institute takes future Tommy Hilfigers and Donna Karans on an unforgettable trip into the world of cool clothing and outrageous apparel. Experienced instructors teach campers the fundamentals and secrets of clothing construction and fashion design. Campers will learn different hand-sewing techniques as they create handbags, pants, shorts, shirts, bandanas and more. These budding designers will also pick out fabrics and colors, create sketches and design their own clothing - from chic to retro. They will be taught advanced techniques in designing jeans and dresses, giving them that hip stylish look. Additionally, these creative kids will build and design one-of-a-kind creations for the camp fashion show, and their garments may even appear in the Film Institute's movies. In a two-week session these future stylists will also take a field trip to a fashion design house such as bebe, Windsor or Velvet, where they will meet a professional fashion designer. Who knows? Someday your children might have their own fashion line!

Culinary Institute
Future chefs will warm up the kitchen as they are taught the finer points of food preparation, keeping a clean work space, recipes and measuring ingredients. Culinary campers will learn how to prepare amazing salads, mouth-watering sauces, tantalizing appetizers, yummy breakfast dishes and favorites such as sautéed vegetables, rice, potatoes, fish, meats, soups and pasta! In this Pali favorite, kids are encouraged to explore their own style and creativity. And, yes, they will get to eat what they make!

Circus Camp
For kids looking to clown around this summer, we suggest that they run away and join a circus...ours! Under our big top, campers will learn slapstick falls, acrobatics, pratfalls, tumbling, hand-balancing, improvisation, gags and mime. More clownish lessons include: juggling rings and balls, riding unicycles, mastering the Diablo (Chinese yo-yo) and making balloon animals! Before climbing into the center ring, campers will be taught how to apply clown make-up, prepare costumes and sets, use a hoola-hoop, throw pies, walk on stilts, spin plates, walk a tight rope, fly through the air on a lyra and cradle, and even tame a wild animal (such as a counselor). Because safety is a priority, stunts will be taught using safety belts, mats, kneepads and spotters. After mastering these wacky skills, kid clowns will put on a circus show for the entire camp.

Rock Star Camp
In this specialty, future rockers will write, play and record their own songs. They'll also learn vocal warm-ups and practice rhythm exercises. If campers want to play an instrument, they'll be introduced to their choice of drums, guitar, bass or keyboards. This specialty is taught in a supportive and creative environment that totally rocks! Campers will also get a chance to work on the other side of the mixing board, and learn how to record and mix a song. With instructors to guide them, junior rockers are taught the basics of multi-track recording and production. They'll also learn how to mix sound during live performances. At the conclusion of this specialty, campers will perform their tunes for the entire camp and take home a DVD of the concert!

Dance Academy
Dance routines from MTV music videos come to life in this non-stop, heart-pounding specialty! In our cutting-edge Dance Academy, young hip-hoppers will move and groove to the slamming sounds of Beyonce Knowles, the Black Eyed Peas, Usher and more! Campers will learn high-energy combinations of modern jazz and hip-hop choreography--isolations, spins, twists and turns--all set to the latest beats. Boys can join in and learn urban dance moves such as popping, locking, hitting, jamming, flexing, wave and break dancing! By video recording their performances and watching video playback of themselves on a monitor, campers can improve their dance moves. Performers will also get the inside secrets on what professional choreographers look for in a dancer. After they complete their toe-tapping training, youngsters will break down and bust their moves on stage as they "wow" the entire camp with a dazzling dance show. As an added bonus, they'll keep their costumes and take home a DVD of their mind-blowing performances! In two-week sessions, these future JLOs will also take a trip to Hollywood, where they may even be discovered while auditioning for professional dance agents!

Acting Academy
Campers will jump start their imaginations with improvisations and theater games to help them "think on their feet." Future Oscar-winners will hone their acting techniques by working on monologues and learning how to play a motivation. By using a video camera to record their acting exercises and watching the playback, campers can "video study" their performances. Got a wacky voice? Campers are also taught voiceover for cartoons and commercials. As a bonus, they'll be trained in audition techniques and have headshots taken. Campers in two-week sessions will audition for Hollywood's children's agents and casting directors. Campers may also audition for movies produced by the Pali Film Institute.

Junior Camp
Kids will be on-the-go from the moment they set foot on Pali. Campers can stretch their wings with circus and magic tricks, tubing on Big Bear Lake, science experiments, outdoor cooking, dancing, horseback riding, climbing our rock wall, go-karts, jet-skiing, face painting, ATVs and many more of Pali's unique activities (such as tossing water balloons and stink bombs!)

Junior Sports Camp
Campers will have a ball at our sports camp! They can take jump shots on our basketball court, become a dazzling dribbler, rebound off the boards, learn offense and defense, and a perfect hook shot. For soccer players, Pali has many foreign instructors to teach fancy footwork, passing, goalkeeping and team play. In our swimming pool, campers with water legs can splash, swim, play water polo and shoot hoops in water basketball! On the volleyball court, we'll train your junior athlete to be a setter, outside hitter or a force to be reckoned with at the net. Kids can also try archery, fencing, kayaking, canoeing, bungee trampoline and of course, all of the other unique Pali activities.

Trail Blazers
Before taking this specialty, campers are required to take Horseback Riding Academy (a pre-requisite) or demonstrate riding ability and comparable horse sense. In this program, kids will learn both Western and English styles of riding. In the English portion, they learn how to walk, trot and canter in a formal manner. Riders will also guide their horses through patterns (such as figure-eights) and serpentine courses. In Western riding, campers learn a more relaxed style and they jog, trot and lope their way through mountain trails. During an overnight trip, riders will learn how to mark trails, read a compass and practice survival skills.

Master Spy Institute
For the thinking spy who has previously taken Secret Agent Camp (a pre-requisite) and wants to be the next James Bond, this specialty will teach him, or her, actual CSI techniques. The Master Spy Institute teaches agents how to fire paintballs from an ATV, dodge laser beam security, perform surveillance, use mini-spy cameras, collect evidence, leave false clues, wear a hidden microphone and create/wear disguises. Spies will also be taught how to use night goggles, scale a wall, break secret codes, cheat a lie detector and detect if someone is lying (by facial expressions). Once trained, they will sniff out an enemy spy in camp. Spies will also meet a security expert who will reveal his techniques.

Special Effects Camp
Prior to taking this program, campers need to complete Director's Cut. This ensures that they'll be up to speed when they enter a world of dazzling special effects. In this post-production-focused program, they'll write and shoot their films, learn how to add visual effects, sound effects, overdub dialogue, use blue screen techniques and mix music. Young producers/directors will also burn and code DVDs of their work. As with the other film classes, their movies will premiere at the Pali Film Festival!
